wednesday dreams

Sometimes I am a teensy bit girly.

I have a fondness for colourful dresses that knows no bounds. So of course, when I stumbled across Pushing Daisies, I was smitten.

Aren't you?

That style is very pretty. You know how understated the word 'pretty' is? I say it very sincerely.

Anyway, in regards to you joining in to read '1984' on my blog, I encourage and thank you, and would just like to say that with a list of favourite books such as yours (in your profile), I think that you and I could be real bosom buddies! And with such exquisite taste, I think that this book is up your allie, Kayla!

I'm delighted that you like those books! They so mirror my own tastes, and I really look forward to being able to share thoughts with you. Have you read any Virginia Woolf?
yes but what is this about?? some event or something?

I love love love Pushing Daises, and have to admit I have a little girl crush on Anna Friel. I love her style in the show - from the pretty dresses to the red lipstick. x

I've never seen the show but I love the fashion. I am one of those people who will watch something because I like the designs. This is making me want to get some spring dresses.

I loved this show and Wonderfalls too. Have you watched Off the Map on ABC? Of course, its not quite as quirky as these, but I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would.

Oh, another Pushing Daisies fan! We recently got that in France and I ate up every last morsel of it. I loved Chuck's style, too. So light and feminine. Wish I could be her! And be dating Ned, too, but that's another story!

When I was younger, I was against all things girly. I'm so glad I grew out of that. Pushing Daisies is the perfect inspiration -- I was really heartbroken when it was canceled.

I loved this actress style in Pushing Daisies. Dead Like Me is really a cool show, too..Off the Map is from the writers of Grey's Anatomy ..its doctors in the jungle somewhere...but it has the Caroline Dhavrnas from Wonderfalls. She's made a few French Canadian movies over the years. The one I'm hunting on DVD is THE BEAUTIFUL BEAST that she did with Marc-Andre Grondin. The French liked him so much in C.R.A.Z.Y..they even let him be in a few French movies.

Thanks so much for the note.

Hi Kayla,
Well, for Virginia Woolf, the first book of her's I read was Mrs Dalloway, and I think that it is still my favourite. It is quite short too, in comparison, at least, and the writing style is so beautiful. I would just add, however, that her books sound absolutely beautiful when they are read ALOUD. The sentences are quite long, you see, and the punctutation and bracketted phrases etc. mean that unless you are speaking it and using all the pauses and everyone, some of the beauty and charm of the writing can be lost. No fear, though. Mrs Dalloway has no actual chapters, unlike her other works, but this is so that the book is a single train of thought. It's actually very amazing just how perfectly it is like a train of thought! It flows and jumps and makes lovely observations, all to make you immersed. I really hope that if you do end up reading it, that you'll enjoy it, and I would love to hear what you think, whenever it is that you do! Bad luck about not finding 1984. That is a real bummer. I hope that you can get it out sometime, though, because I have a feeling that it is something you would enjoy. Just a fleeting question... or couple of questions (curious me), what was The Count of Monte Cristo and The Picture of Dorian Gray like? These two books are both stories I have been meaning to read for so long! I think that there is a little bit of thrill in knowing that I might read them when I'm older and enjoy them more... with greater maturity and understanding, you see. But I'm still intrigued! Take care, Book Florist.

Hey again Kayla,
I just realized then that if you would like to read some of Virginia Woolf's writing, I have posted several excerpts from her book, To The Lighthouse (which is arguably one of her most popular), in early March. Why don't you have a little look if you like. I think they are like the fourth and fifth etc. posts.
I'm not one for dresses but you're definitely right about the colours! :)

I've posted about pushing daisies before. It is my favorite favorite show. I watched it from the beginning and basically died inside when it ended.

I haven't seen it but those dresses are beautiful! (And just so you know: the costumes were one of the main reasons I wanted to watch Mad Men in the first place---I was not disappointed). There is absolutely nothing wrong with girliness---especially not when it comes with a heart like yours.
i always hear such good things about this show and a ton of hype about the clothes. now i kinda understand why, those dresses look amazing!

Guest Post: Brandi of ´Not Your Average Ordinary´

This guest post is quite exciting for me, as Brandi was actually the reason I first started my blog. She was one of my first followers and has been such an inspiration throughout this whole process. On top of that she is the sweetest person ever and such a beautiful woman inside and out. Without further ado, here she is: Ritual I was so flattered when Kaylia asked me to guest post for her. You see, she's one of my favorite sources of inspiration and honesty on the great big blogosphere. I was sipping tea, trying to decide what to write and feeling more unsure of myself than ever. It's been a bit like that lately in my world. When moments like those overwhelm me, I stop what I'm doing and brew a pot of tea. The first cup is reflection, the second poured becomes evaluation, the remaining cups devoted to action. It's one of the best things I do for myself all day, the little ritual. There’s something wonderful about daily rituals – those little times during the...

Guest post from Deidre of Decoybetty

Here is another guest post from a fabulous blogger; this time it's Deidre from Decoybetty. This blog is one of the funniest, most honest, most inspiring blog around (with the occasional dash of delicious recipes to boot). Check out her beautiful blog at www.decoybetty.com and you'll see why she is one of my all-time favourites. Guest post: When Kaylia asked me to write a guest post, I stared at the blank screen and the only things that came to mind is how every post that Kaylia writes, I read along going “Yes! Yes! Yes!”  This girl writes (albeit way more eloquently) what I’m thinking.  But you read her blog, you know how fabulous she is.   She recently wrote about the ‘anonymity’ of travel. I’m addicted to this feeling.  I’m an expat. I was born in America and got my first taste of Australia in the young adult book “Looking for Alibrandi” where a teenager skips school to hang out with a boy which is basically all the things I am not. I’d never skip school and I didn’t r...

Guest Post: Vanisha

Hey guys, here is the last guest post and I couldn't have picked someone better (if I do say so myself). I have only known Vanisha's blog for a short time but I'm already hooked. It's funny, honest and there are always beautiful photos to drool over. PLUS she lives in Canberra and does a much better job of summing up my awesome home-town than I do. Enjoy! Hello! I'm Vanisha from Vanisha's In Life...Australia  Kaylia invited me to write a guest post whilst she's on her fabulous holiday! Being asked to write a guest post almost feels like being invited into someone's home. I'm honored. Kaylia said write about "anything" so I thought I'd write about an amazing trip I recently took.  A lot of people find it odd that of all places, we decided to got to Timor Lestse. Let me preface this decision a little. It all started in front of this fire place in the middle of winter in the Kangaroo Valley. Two acquaintances sat. Trying to get war...
