yes to life

Ahh, ‘tis Monday once more. It’s a bit of a shame, but just think: Only 5 more days until next weekend!

The past weekend for me was all about saying yes. Yes to new experiences, new friends and new memories.

I hadn’t even realised I haven’t been doing that nearly as much as I should. Ruts are so easy to fall into, yet so hard to recognise when you have.

And so I said yes. Yes to poker nights. Yes to parties, $5 bottles of port and meeting new people. Yes to laughter, hangovers and mistakes. Yes to tea dates, brunch, building giant leaf piles to jump in and taking chances. Yes to soaking up the last piece of nice weather Canberra has to offer.

From now on it’s yes to life.

How was your weekend? What motto did you live by?

xoxo

*Note: saying yes does have its drawbacks...I’m just as sick as before. I guess the next thing I will be saying yes to is a doctor’s appointment!

Ha ha. Funny little twist at the end. I'm quite a lot better today, thankyou so much for asking, and I certainly hope that you'll be on the mend in no time, too. Because it certainly sucks being sick. Thankyou for your recommendation, too, by the way. I try to always reply to your comments on my blog, but as I'm not sure whether you would see my replies, I'm saying so here, too, just so I'm sure you can hear me!
Thanks for your recommendation, and 'Death in Brunswick' is certainly a great one to watch, especially if you like Sam Neil as an actor. He's very good in it. It's not big budget, hugely funny or hugely clever or anything like that, but it's brutally Australian, and that in itself makes it a good movie. Also, 'Muriel's Wedding' is another quintessencial Australian movie. Have you seen that one? I think I actually prefer it. It's more annoying - when you listen to the Australian accent for so long it becomes nauseaus - but very clever and sweet. Both are good. Lots of love and get-well-soon thoughts. Take care. Also 'Yes Man'. Wow. I can't believe I'm the first person to mention that to you! (I can't actually think of my motto at the moment. But I could hazard a guess that if it was a quote, it would be from either A. A. Milne or James M. Barrie.)

I don't say yes enough and oh! I wish I did. I should work on that, as always. I sure hope you get yourself down to the doctors---you have to take of yourself! Please, please do. I also spied your new profile picture on blogger---and oh, that photoshoot looks amazing! It would be lovely to see more (but I DO understand it if you feel a little self-conscious about it---NOT that you should!) I hope you have a better week this week, too! x

I think "yes to life" is the way to go. This weekend, I tried to find the quiet in my days and tried to get ahead so that I could find that quiet and calmness in the rest of my week. That said, this week is going to be a busy one to get through. {deep breaths}

I think living from a place of yes can be so exhilarating. I am trying to do it more. I think sometimes, I doubt myself and want to protect me and shy away from a lot. However, I am opening to that more and hoping for the best.

I was forced to say yes to studying for finals. Yuck. Sounds like you guys are getting ready for fall! I'm getting ready to say yes to summer!

I love your attitude......this weeek, unfortunately, I am saying NO to everything except paper writing (it is the last week of the semester!), but afterwards it will be YES to lazy afternoons at the beach, coffee dates with friends, bike rides along the lake and so much more.
